The story of my Austenian adventure continues! After the wonderful visit at Chawton House Library, another walk throughout the wonderful green English countryside is waiting for us..

Pochi passi mi separano dalla casa in cui la nostra Jane ha scritto alcuni dei suoi capolavori e vissuto gli ultimi anni. Completamente rapita dalla bellezza del paesaggio intorno a me, mi chiedo: « Chissà quante volte Jane ha percorso questi stessi sentieri.. Quanti spunti letterari avrà tratto da questa meraviglia? Quante storie d’amore avranno visto nascere questi guardini, nei suoi libri..e nella realtà?♥ ». Ecco poi che la scorgo! Ho riconosciuto a metri di distanza quel cartello che molte volte avevo visto in foto..♥

A few steps separated me from the house in which our dear Jane wrote some of her masterpieces and lived her last years. Completely charmed by the beauty of the landscape around me, I thought: « I wonder how many times Jane passed through these same paths.. How many hints did she get from this beauty? How many love stories did these gardens see coming to life, in her books..and in reality?♥ ». Here it is! I recognized that signal which I had seen so many times in pictures metres away..♥

La bellissima giornata di sole permette a me e a mia cugina di godere a pieno dello spettacolo che si presentava di fronte a noi! Per un attimo ho dimenticato le auto, i cellulari, le macchine fotografiche..e mi sono ritrovata nel 1800..Non è bellissima?

The beautiful sunny day let me and my cousin fully enjoy the scene ahead of us! For a moment I forgot the cars, the cellphones, the cameras..and I found myself in 1800..Isn’t it beautiful?

Subito mi sono fatta fare una foto per immortalare il momento! 🙂

« Questa è la casa in cui Jane Austen ha vissuto dal 1809 al Maggio 1817. Si è poi ritrasferita a Winchester per curare la propria malattia ed è morta nel Luglio di quell’anno.

È qui che ha rivisto i suoi primi romanzi “Ragione e Sentimento” e “Orgoglio e Pregiudizio” e ha vissuto al tempo in cui sono stati pubblicati.

Qui ha anche scritto “Mansfield Park”, “Emma” e “Persuasione” e ha iniziato il suo ultimo romanzo incompiuto “Sanditon”.

Ha condiviso la casa con la madre, l’amata sorella Cassandra, e la loro amica Martha Lloyd.

Ricevevano frequentemente visite da parte dei fratelli di Jane e delle loro famiglie numerose, che assicuravano che l’atmosfera nella casa fosse vivace e ricca d’affetto »..♥

Vi accompagnerò adesso all’interno della meravigliosa casa della nostra Jane, attraverso un tour fotografico! 😉 Iniziamo dal favoloso giardino, nel quale la nostra scrittrice sicuramente avrà trascorso molti pomeriggi intenta a scrivere, immersa nelle proprie letture o a prendere un buon tè con gli amici più cari ♥..

I’ll accompany you inside our Jane’s wonderful house, through a photographic tour! 😉 Let’s begin from the fabulous garden, in which our writer certainly spent lots of afternoons absorbed in her lectures, engaged in writing or in having a good tea with her dearest friends♥..

Dal vivo si può notare come la casa sia ancora più grande di quanto non sembri in foto; per cercare di darvene un’idea, ecco uno scorcio sul retro dell’edificio!

Being there, you can notice how the house is even bigger than it seems in the photos; trying to give you an idea of that, here is a glimpse of the back of the building!

Le sorelle Austen erano solite passeggiare a piedi ogni pomeriggio per un paio d’ore, ma per gli spostamenti verso Alton volti allo shopping approfittavano spesso del calesse.

The Austen sisters used to walk every afternoon for a couple of hours; however, for shopping trips to Alton they often used the donkey carriage.

Non è bellissima? Io la trovo assolutamente deliziosa, tipica di un perfetto cottage della campagna inglese! È stata appesa ad un filo una serie di post-it con messaggi lasciati da alcuni visitatori provenienti da tutto il mondo!

Isn’t it beautiful? I find it absolutely lovely, tipical of a perfect cottage of the English countryside! A series of post-it notes with messages left by some visitors coming from all over the world was hanging by a thread!

Let’s continue our online visit going towards the most elegant rooms of the house..don’t you find the next one beautiful? In my opinion, it looks like a painting!♥

Che ne dite di questo vestito? Semplice ma molto fine, non trovate? Mi ci vedrei proprio a passeggiare per i sentieri di Chawton con un libro fra le mani indossandolo..

What about this dress? Simple but very fine, isn’t it? I would really see myself walking among the footpaths in Chawton with a book in my hands wearing it..

Eccoci giunti all’angolo dedicato al pianoforte e alla libreria, ricchissima di opere di Jane, alcune molto antiche!♥

We arrived near the corner dedicate to the piano and the bookcase, very rich in Jane’s works; some of them are very antique!♥

« Perché non impadronirsi del piacere immediatamente? Quanto spesso la felicità è distrutta dalla preparazione, sciocca preparazione.. » ♥

« Why not seize the pleasure at once? How often is happiness destroyed by preparation, foolish preparation.. » ♥

Spostiamoci adesso in sala da pranzo, avente al centro un bellissimo tavolo in legno, con sopra un delizioso servito..

Let’s move towards the dining room; there is a beautiful wooden table at the centre of it, with a lovely set of dishes..

L’emozione è stata ancora più grande quando mi sono trovata davanti al meraviglioso tavolino da scrittura di Jane, ancora più bello che in foto!♥

My emotion was even stronger when I found myself in front of Jane’s wonderful writing table, even more beautiful than in the photos!♥

Ecco, poi, alcuni dei numerosi quadri appesi nelle numerose stanze della casa..♥

You’ll see now some of the many paintings you can find in the many rooms of the house..♥

E cosa ne pensate di questo delizioso angolino? Si trova proprio nella camera che Jane e Cassandra condividevano.

And what about this lovely corner? We are right in the room that Jane and Cassandra used to share.

E questo abito non è bellissimo? Sarebbe un sogno poter partecipare ad un ballo dell’epoca di Jane indossandolo..♥ Fra una danza e l’altra potremmo incontrare il nostro Mr. Darcy..♥ o Tilney, o Wentworth, o Ferrars, o Brandon, o Knightley, o Bertram..♥ 🙂

And isn’t this dress beautiful? It would be a dream having the possibility to attend a dance of Jane’s era wearing it..♥ We could meet our own Mr. Darcy..♥ or Tilney, or Wentworth, or Ferrars, or Brandon, or Knightley, or Bertram..between a dance and the other..♥ 🙂

Ecco, invece, due pannelli raffiguranti una parte dell’albero genealogico di Jane e una timeline degli avvenimenti susseguitisi fra il 1730 e il 1860, legati alla storia in generale e alla vita di Jane!

You’ll see now tho panels portraying a part of Jane’s family tree and a timeline of the events occurred between 1730 and 1860, connected to the history in general and to Jane’s life!

Questo è, invece, un manoscritto di James Austen, uno dei fratelli di Jane, forse illustrato da sua figlia Anna. Sembra veramente riportarci a quel tempo♥..

This is a manuscript by James Austen, one of Jane’s brothers, possibly illustrated by his daughter Anna. It really brings us back to that time♥..

Prima di tornare verso Londra, non avremmo potuto non fermarci al Cassandra’s Cup!♥ Questo delizioso ristorante/tea room si trova proprio di fronte alla casa di Jane! Come si vede dalla foto seguente, lo si scorge dalle finestre che danno su tale lato..

Before going back to London, we stopped by Cassandra’s Cup! We really had to!♥ This lovely restaurant/tea room is right in front of Jane’s house! As you can see in the next photo, you can see it from the windows facing that side..

Se già vi siete innamorati dell’esterno, preparatevi a vedere l’interno..carinissimo!♥

If you fell in love with the outside, get ready to look at the inside..lovely!♥

Guardate che angolino delizioso! Si tratta del posto perfetto per tea lovers come noi! 🙂 Il personale è stato gentilissimo! Avevamo prenotato un tavolo da casa per assicurarci un posto, tenendo tantissimo a questa fermata! La scelta dei cibi è molto varia e si tratta di piatti uno più buono dell’altro. Io e mia cugina siamo rimaste soddisfattissime delle nostre portate! Quando tornerò a Chawton, mi fermerò di nuovo sicuramente anche qui, magari per un buon tè 🙂

Look at this lovely corner! It is the perfect place for tea lovers like us! 🙂 The staff was really kind! We had booked a table from home to make sure about having a place, caring so much about this stop! You can choose among a numerous amount of food choices and the dishes are really tasty. My cousin and I have been really satisfied of ours! When I’ll go to Chawton again, I’ll stop there for sure, maybe for a good cup of tea 🙂
